On November 16, the Ministry of Innovative Development hosted a press-briefing to represente the team of scientists working in the field of mathematics in our republic and abroad to the broad public, as well as to inform the public about the procedure for awarding the prize, established in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated October 30, 2020 “On approval the Regulations on the procedure for awarding the international Muhammad Al-Khorezmi award by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.”
The international presidential award Mohammed Al-Khwarizmi, established to reward scientists, will be awarded personally to those (including foreign citizens and stateless persons) who proposed a solution to one or more specific problems in practice, based on the results of fundamental and applied scientific research in the field of mathematics.
The prize will be awarded every two years by the President upon recommendation of the Republican Council for Science and Technology (Council) in the following 3 areas:
fundamental research;
research made by young scientists;
research in the real sector of the economy.
The Mathematical Society will submit proposals on nominees for the award to the Ministry of Innovative Development with the relevant approved documents, within the established time frame. The Ministry, having studied and agreed upon all the required documents for the nominees, will submit recommendations on candidates for the award and documents on scientific achievements of candidates to the Council for consideration.
If approved by the Board, the winners will receive a one-time cash prize of $ 50,000 equivalent. The spending of the award money by scientists or a group of scientists is not controlled.
